About Misuzu Brewery
The History of Misuzu Located at the heart of Nagano Prefecture, Shiojiri City is a key transportation hub that linked Nakasendō, Zenkō-ji Kaidō, and Sanshū Kaidō. Long established as a busy “shukuba” or post station since the Edo period, it is here that Misuzu Shuzou is located. In 1893 after separating from the parent family, it began to brew its own sake.
In 1955, the name “Misuzu” was selected after the epithet “Misuzu Karu” for the song of Nagano Prefecture “Shina no Kuni”, found in Manyōshu.
